Countertop questions, answered

Everything people ask before starting a countertop project — cost, timeline, materials and the areas we cover.

How much do new countertops cost in Long Island?

It depends on the material, the square footage, the edge profile and any cutouts. Quartz and granite are typically the best value, while marble and exotic stones sit at the premium end. Send a quick sketch and photo and we'll match you with a vetted local shop that gives you a real quote for your exact kitchen — free, with no obligation.

How do I know the shop's quote is fair?

You don't have to decode it on your own. Before you commit to anything, your coordinator goes over the shop's written quote with you — what it includes, what it doesn't — and answers any questions you have. And our cost guide explains the five things that actually move a countertop price, so you know exactly what you're looking at.

Will my phone number or project be shared or sold?

No — never. Your project goes to exactly one vetted local shop, the one we choose for your specific job. It's never sold as a lead, and there's no list of contractors waiting to call you. Your phone number is optional — leave it only if you'd like a call.

How long does the whole process take?

Many projects are completed in roughly a week or two once your material arrives at the fabricator's shop — templating, fabrication and installation included. Before that, a real person responds quickly after you send your project, and your matched shop confirms your exact timeline.

What countertop materials can I get?

Through the local shops we match you with, you can get quartz, quartzite, granite, marble and porcelain — from everyday-durable quartz to luxury Calacatta marble and exotic natural stones for statement kitchens, outdoor BBQs and fireplaces. See them all on our materials page.

Do I need exact measurements or a perfect drawing?

No. A rough hand-drawn sketch with approximate measurements on each side is plenty to get started. A trusted local shop takes measurements (templating) before fabrication, so everything fits perfectly.

What areas do you serve?

All of Long Island — Nassau and Suffolk — plus New York City, Westchester, coastal Connecticut and northern New Jersey, roughly anywhere within about 100 miles. Send your project and we'll confirm whether a vetted shop covers your address.

Is it really free and is there any obligation?

Yes. Homeowners never pay Kountertops — our fee comes from the shop's side when a project moves ahead, never from you, and it doesn't change the shop's price. Starting your project and getting matched with a vetted local shop are completely free, with no obligation to buy.

Do you offer financing?

No — Kountertops doesn't offer financing. Your agreement, and your payment, is directly with your local shop — you never pay Kountertops anything. If payment options matter for your project, tell your coordinator: they'll check with your shop and walk you through your options before you commit.

Who handles measuring and installation?

Vetted local shops do the on-site templating, fabrication and installation. Kountertops coordinates the whole project — including material selection — so you have one simple point of contact instead of chasing multiple companies.

What if I'm not happy with the shop you match me with?

Then we match you with another shop — free. If the match doesn't feel right for any reason, tell your coordinator and we'll pair you with a different vetted local shop at no cost. Your project is never tied to a shop that doesn't convince you.

Are the shops licensed and insured?

They're independent local businesses responsible for their own licensing and insurance — requirements vary by county and town. Checking that is part of our vetting work, not yours: you never have to interview or verify anyone. And if your match doesn't convince you, we'll re-match you with a different vetted local shop — free.
